Gluttony & Sloth usually, but Envy this time. Sometimes I get more out of the ads than the programs. I'm green with envy about this Samsung Galaxy II ad, where the fussing white hen is shown the digital image of three eggs, and instantly settles down. If there's an Oscar for Adverts this would get my vote for 2011. Such a knowing look, and little affirming cock of the head from that dear feathered friend!

Wondering, if the Image is 'computer generated' or 'real'. I suppose an answer could be 'real computer generated'. Sometimes when I'm asked, "Is that flower plastic or real?", I have to answer, "It's a real plastic flower."

In Syracuse University (1966-68) I did a Masters in Radio & Television, which included Courses in advert creation. If anyone remembers a comedian by name Mel Brooks; he started out doing radio commercials in which he created the character of 'the Old Brew Master', for Ballantine Beer. My literary sensibilities were greatly tickled by it. The 'Announcer' says, "And now, here we are at the mouth of the Old Brew Master's Cave; Please, Sir---You are so old; would you have known Byron, Keats and Shelley?

A little pause, and in that beautiful New York Jewish accent the old chap replies:

"BYRON KEATS, I KNEW; BUT SHELLEY WHO?"
