Triumph of democracy The end was well earned as all the Parliamentarians stood together to save the life of ANNA ,by their unanimous decision by thumping of desks in unison It is only hoped that the time line will not be elastic.The expectations are clear that the law will soon be in place and Dr Singhvi mentions, that the final draft will please every one It is on record that the lok pal nomenclature was by his own father, who moved it in 1963 and he will be the most happy person.In spite of heated arguments and diverse views all showed maturity to agree. The people , the free press and the mediators must share all the glory The electronic media must share the credit for keeping the people well informed minute by minute It is at best a win win situation, as victory and defeat always leaves room for retaliation and vengeance. The debates were balanced representing all shades of opinions The will of the people has prevailed because the the issue was really haunting every conceivable Indian citizens and those living beyond the shores The Parliament must always take the aspirations of the people and not work at cross purposes in a Democracy The Parliament is sovereign , we the people are supreme and the representatives owe their status to the electorate They must not adamantly stand on false prestige that once elected they owe allegiance to none, because there is no accountability or provision for the recall. They enjoy only delegated authority The Parliamentary laws are often struck done by the Courts as unconstitutional , challenging the premise of supremacy The legislators do not do us proud by their criminal background, unworthy of their place in the august house not envisaged by our founding fathers Many never participate, as their educational background is a positive handicap to debate on legal issues. It is shocking to see the empty seats in both the houses staring at us, when important discussions are on the anvil The election by majority of about 60-70% only is not truly represented They represent only few and behave as if, they have the mandate of the whole Nation and all its people It is rightly uttered that democracy is of the few, by the few, and for the few, or that democracy is of the M.P`s for the M.P.`s and bu the M.P`s We know the unfair means, as to how the elections are won and just winning elections does not empower them to gloat and wear the cloak of superior Indians The issues at the election time are caste factors, religious algiance, family considerations and predominant local sentiments The entry to ministerial posts through Raja Sabha must be stopped forthwith The legislators frame the laws by feeling the pulse of the situations demanding actions and not by dreaming and acting in vacuum and isolation of the people for whom thy are meant To ignore the massive protests against the mountain of corruption is wishful thinking and the congress could not ride rough shod over the cries for change and law The delaying tactics by resorting to legalities for 11 days has battered the image of the UPAII and provided an opportunity to the NDA on a platter as the saviour of the people All their miscalculations and blunders have gone awry and their ardent hope that delay and procrastination will wear out the resolve and determination of the teeming masses in every place in India have been proved wrong, including that living Anna is more threat than dead Hazare Once again the issue is in the custody of the Parliament and it will be subjected to their usual tactics, but there is now a vigilant populace monitoring its progress very selectively The right to protest and fast and demand is fully democratic and cannot be fettered by panic reactions or looked down upon as usurping the sovereignty of the parliamentary process These are canards spread to misinform and preserve their superiority. Jan lok pal bill in whatever form is definitely a first step after 45 years and it has to be supported by judicial , electoral ,police , tax reforms The existing legislation's , CBI, CVC citizen charter ,RTI act must be strengthened and implemented with honesty and sincerity we lack in the implementation stage.
