I am not sure what George means by an "anti-aam aadmi" tone. There is today wide-spread support for the stadium reconstruction, which includes support from our Elected representatives, Sports Clubs, other local bodies, Schools and Colleges, and a vast majority of the locals. Extensive discussions have been held and a broad consensus about the number of matches that can be held here, the capacity of the stadium, etc have been worked out. The CM, the Opposition leader cum Panaji MLA, the City Mayor, the local Councillors and almost all stake holders have given their nod for the project. Barring the few opposing voices which is expected on any given issue, a majority of the Campal/ Miramar and other Panjim city residents have thrown their weight behind the stadium reconstruction. So the overwhelming Public sentiment is in favour of the stadium reconstruction, not against it. Considering the above, it is George who must do a rethink on this. He must be sympathetic to the cause that others hold dearly. Sports persons are a neglected lot. A ground which was once the pride of our city lies in ruins today. The locals do not have a ground to play on. Schools and colleges do not have a ground where they can play or conduct their games on. We have not made demands for a huge ground. A small ground with adequate Parking facilities and a sound traffic management plan is what we have asked for. Our demands are genuine. regards, Sandeep
