Some readers might think that I was bowled a Googly and got stumped, yet some others might think that I was deliberately bowled a slow full toss, to be hit for a six! Nothing of the sort, I was waiting for information pertaining to the whole Convention before commenting. If by "unqualified success" we mean revenues earned then by all accounts this is correct. Rabi Martins is quoted in the Asian Age "The Global Goans Convention ended with a Festival attended by nearly 6,000 people" see http://epaper.asian-voice.com/PUBLICATIONS/AV/AV/2011/07/30/ArticleHtmls/Goa-comes-to-London-30072011014007.shtml?Mode=1# Rabi Martins was part and parcel of the 'pulse' of the success. So let me throw in some figures:- I shall err on the side of being conservative and take the attendees as 5,500 which @ £4 per head equates to £22,000. The parking, say 1,000 cars @ £5 each equates to £5,000. Then comes the fees generated by the stall holders and the Sponsorship by Tilda Rice, let's say a total of £5,000. This makes a fine grand total of £32,000. The numbers being bandied about how much was paid by the Govt. of Goa, are from the sublime to the ridiculous, so a fair guesstimate, since this was a showcase event, would be £10,000. So by income, no doubt this was a resounding success - now all that remains to be seen are the actual figures. -- DEV BOREM KORUM Gabe Menezes.
