Dear fellow readers

Together with Melvyn, I would like to say how happy we are Eugene Correia is
back on goanet and join others wishing him well. Laughter is the
best medicine and a simple matter of an esteemed authoress calling us all
"lower than cows" shouldn't hinder his full recovery progress. Having
relocated to the United Kingdom recently, she may not have been aware a few
years ago the country was gripped in the "foot and mouth disease"
epidemic affecting these lovely farm animals. In the middle of a heap of cow
carcases, a "whiter than white" calf was found alive. The whole
country wept and this precious calf was saved from slaughter. The owners vowed
to keep him for life, never ever to be slaughtered, and called him
"Phoenix" which means "risen out of the ashes".

Regarding the NRI Global Goan Convention held in London, Anil Desai wrote what
he would have liked to see happen - more time for questions and
answers. The learned gentleman who set the record straight confirmed what
actually happened - not as much time given as Anil Desai would have
liked for questions and answers. Looks to me like the opportunity for dialogue
was slaughtered. I had already guessed what would happen, kept a
tight grip on my wallet and didn't attend. Now I have come to realise what I
have missed, paying a nominal sum for such a grand Goan tiatr. My
consolation prize, I wouldn't have understood anything anyway. The sum total of
my make is I have a bird brain, love to fly, write on goanet, listen
to song of the day, eat cashew nuts, hate people swearing and enjoy reading the
occasional poem. A true free spirit.
