Well, Well.... Just let me tell an anecdote.... My Cousin who migrated to Canada about Ten years back narrated to me an experience he had in a pub there. He was talking to a Goan there and during the course of the conversaton the other asked him as to when and from where did my cousin come to Canada? when my cousin told him Mumbai and recently migrated , the course change with the other guy saying " Oh I came from Africa..!" and discontinued the conversation!
Of course my cousin was put off, but he related to me so what if Goans came from Africa early on , most came as refugees! Apparently there is a pecking order in Goans in the West, First is the Africa Goan, Second is the Goan from the Gulf, Third is the Goan from Mumbai, other metros with the Goan coming from Goa being last! Having lived in Goa most of my life I can tell you many stories of the Africanders who came back created a lot of problems in the social fabric and of course a lot of them became alcoholics which was a problem by itself. By the logic propounded in earlier threads overseas Goan should not write on Goa since they have hardly lived there! Selma you just keep up the Good Work!
