Is Goa Safe?It's not!
A murder in a year was a matter of concern for Goa some years ago but in today's Goa the same is common and looks like nobody concerned or bothered.After liberation this place called Goa turned from Heaven to hell and the last five years were the worst for our beloved Goa as far as so called crime is concerned.There was something called as law and order during the Portuguese Rule in Goa but in today's Goa,different laws for different people,the rich and the powerful have got their own laws and some are not bothered about law in Goa On the 9th of September 2011 at about 1800 hrs LT when I was inside the Holy Spirit Cemetery,near Hospicio Hospital at Margao attending the funeral of one of our relatives,huge noise was heard for sometime from the Hospicio main gate.When I was out of the cemetery,a man was lying in the pool of blood some meters away from the Hospicio main gate on the opposite side.He was stabbed during broad daylight,people watched the incident live,including the Traffic Cop on duty and the Police constable on duty at Hospicio at that particular time.Someone who had come for the funeral was kind enough to get a stretcher from Hospicio and lift that man to Hospicio.A full ring went to 100 but the call was not answered,might be the emergency 100 service was dead at that particular time.There was no sign of Police at least for the first 10 minutes after the incident even though the incident was witnessed live by two cops. Who created places like the shanties in Zuari Nagar, the migrant dominated places like Monti-Dongor at Margao,etc?Is the Digamber Kamat government bothered about such crime in Goa.By witnessing such daylight crimes in Goa,can Goa be termed as a safe destination for decent tourists?Is this what is called as development?Is this what is called as Liberation?The last five years were worst for Goa and in the coming Elections, if we goans don't finish at least 25 of the 40 thieves ruling Goa,we so called niz goemkars will be finished.We must learn something from such ugly incidents witnessed by Goa and if we don't learn now,we will never.
