How else did he not abide by it in his so called campaign against corruption. Television footage records that a lavish spread for nearly TEN THOUSAND people was served at Ralegaon Siddhi on the return of ANDA HAZARE to his village. Makes people wonder how this Anda Hazare could afford to extend lavish hospitality to so large numbers ,when of his own admission he has no source of income or does not own agricultural land?
My dear Gerald, Much as I appreciate your posts, I would like to state that the term Anda (instead of Anna) diluted your post. That having been said, the following is what I had written to you earlier (updated): I thank you for adding meat to this debate. I will jot down my own thoughts. BTW: As I am 'replying all', some might feel spammed at receiving this. Do forgive me. In general, I have decided that it is fruitless discussing the matter of consent with Sandeep Heble. He is more keen on playing Atya Patya. What follows here is a synopsis of my views on the matter of Mr. Hazare and 'his' IAC movement. It also includes the Goa component led by Heble and co. In the midst is the matter of consent. [1]: Mr. Hazare: I personally believe that Mr. Hazare is a well meaning, no nonsense individual who is opposed to social ills like corruption, untidiness, alcoholism etc. His own village of Ralegan Siddhi is reportedly a clean and organised place. All support for that from this end. What remains a matter of concern is the method by which this status quo is achieved. Please read the following and advise IF one should lose some of one's fundamental rights (as believed Salazar) to achieve a goal. http://tinyurl.com/MarPhar [2]: Politics and Politicians: I shun both. Once upon a time, in the relative naivety of my college years in Goa, I believed that the reason why Goan politics was in the state it was in, was because not enough educated and honourable individual participated. But, having seen Goan politicians and their politics from very close range (esp during my formative years), I have come to believe that Politics is NOT for decent folks. So, Mr. Heble is right. I have a bias. I am absolutely biased against ALL Goa politicians. Thank God for the Constitution. BTW: here is something which we might wish to consider when we think about this matter. http://tinyurl.com/KhanaPeena Just imagine what you would say about any doctor IF a pharma company provided lunch for participants at his function. [3] Corruption: I believe that the weed of corruption has spread far and deep into the fabric of most societies. Third World societies are more affected by the very fact that simple matters that affect life, are touched by corruption. If one wants a NOC, one pays bakshish; If one wants a copy of one's birth certificate, one pays bakshish ....the same with Telephone connections. Either that or one waits. It is my belief that the solution lies in a two prong approach (a) the Top and the Bottom. It is the Bottom which is feeding the top. This is a trickle up system of doing business. I would have felt that the organiser of IAC would have (a) NOT taken food and money from ANYBODY/ENTITY who/which has not opened up his/its accounts for scrutiny. (b) started their protests against the policemen, customs officers, sarpanch's et al ....and moved upwards. They would then have led by example and benefited many more of the poor people who suffer from the ills of corruption at the bottom. [4] CONSENT: Like you, I have good reasons to believe that Heble and Co did NOT obtain informed consent from the children. It is possible that they were not aware ....and I can understand that. All of us make errors. Just imagine IF a doctor removed a child's kidney or eyes without appropriate informed consent from the child's parent. But, then again, it is possible that Children have No RIghts in Goa. my views jc
