For the arm chair supporters of Anna something is always better than nothing.
They need some entertainment now and then which gives them some consolation
that they are positively contributing to social change. The same psyche is
prevalent in the choice of their political representatives during elections.
All screaming and groaning in public but something different behind the scenes.
Thereafter, for the next 5 years the blame is deflected on the illiterate
masses who are accused of taking bribes to vote for the corrupt. Just one year
in the corridors of power will establish the duplicity of this arm chair chunk
of society that only lights candles before TV cameras and will withdraw one
mile away no sooner there is a threat of lathi charge. The lathis have to be
borne by the illiterate masses. They will reassemble before TV cameras to moan
the dead and injured from police brutalities.
Anna has wonderfully, for reasons quite obvious, only ensured that the disease
of blaming others for the evils by the arm chair public becomes even more
chronic. It becomes easy and exciting to deflect the blame on someone in power.
Indian society is suffering from a chronic Blame disease. It feels threatening
to turn the focus on one self and see one's own contribution, directly or
indirectly, in what is going on. Highlighting this aspect of the disease is
labelled to be offensive by arm chair section of public. This exactly is the
problem why this nation reels under corruption. Failure of arm chair public to
accept responsibility for what is happening. The illiterate and poor do not
have the opportunity to defend their side of the story on internet, TV or in
the newspapers. So the one sided arguments put forward by the arm chair society
ultimately becomes the truth. Isn't it true that, 'A lie repeated a hundred
times becomes the Truth." That is what India Ahgainst corruption is all about.
To conclude we shall like to substantiate the duplicity of arm chair public
against corruption. A lady activist from south Goa decided to support the rally
against corruption at Margao. Some days later, a guest from the guest house,
which this activist runs, gets robbed by some persons. The suspects are nabbed
and the guest is summoned by police for the identification parade. The activist
who also went along was shocked to see that three of the suspects were none
other than those screaming the most at the anti-corruption rally at margao.
After all they are only suspects, isn't it? Not guilty until proven guilty? Can
Anna Hazare be blamed for this? Never.
India is shinning and so is Advani. He is using Anna's aerodrome to take off on
his India tour against corruption. Bharat Mata ki Jai!
