George Pinto:**** My point was that partisan Congressional supporters cannot complain the BJP is pointing out Congress corruption. I was responding to someone complaining that Advani was on an anti-corruption tour.****
** ** Response:**** I am afraid George offers a very poor defense of his original post (in response to Soter’s post). Soter wasn’t defending the Congress in any way. I am appending the weblinks to his post below which is self evident. The point that Soter was making was that the movement against corruption led was Anna Hazare was hypocritical. His supporters were not genuine but were merely enjoying the tamasha. The real public who face the effects of corruption like the poor and illiterate went unrepresented. Anna’s supporters were least interested in rooting out corruption but having a field day against the party in power at the Centre for their own selfish ends. Soter further makes the point that the BJP is hijacking the movement just as he has been predicting.**** ** ** I quote Soter ”To conclude we shall like to substantiate the duplicity of arm chair public against corruption. A lady activist from south Goa decided to support the rally against corruption at Margao. Some days later, a guest from the guest house, which this activist runs, gets robbed by some persons. The suspects are nabbed and the guest is summoned by police for the identification parade. The activist who also went along was shocked to see that three of the suspects were none other than those screaming the most at the anti-corruption rally at margao. After all they are only suspects, isn't it? Not guilty until proven guilty? Can Anna Hazare be blamed for this? Never. **** India is shinning and so is Advani. He is using Anna's aerodrome to take off on his India tour against corruption. Bharat Mata ki Jai!**** ** ** -Soter**** http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2011-September/213304.html **** ** ** I do not see any reason for George to justify Advani’s proposed yatra when he leads an equally corrupt party. Two wrongs do not make a right.**** ** ** Incidentally, Soter has proved right as the following news item suggests:*** * *L K Advani's yatra a gimmick, says Anna Hazare* RALEGAN SIDHI: Anna Hazare<http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Anna-Hazare>today called L K Advani's proposed yatra against corruption as a "gimmick" and said he would not support the BJP unless it backs the Jan Lokpal Bill in Parliament and its governments enact a legislation for appointing Lokayuktas in states. "If Advani is serious on the issue of corruption, then instead of yatra, he should ask all BJP-ruled states to enact legislation for appointing Lokayuktas... it is a gimmick," he told television channels here. "Absolutely not. If BJP says that they support Anna then they should bring Lokayukta Bill in their states. First bring Lokayukta and then (ask for) support," he said in a response to a question whether he would join any political yatra, especially the one to be undertaken by Advani soon. Hazare said he and his team would support BJP only if states ruled by the party Lokayuktas and back "Jan Lokpal in total" in Parliament.**** ** ** http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/L-K-Advanis-yatra-a-gimmick-says-Anna-Hazare/articleshow/9970848.cms **** ** ** regards,**** ** ** Marshall**** ** ** ** **
