The author seems to trivialise the concerns of several citizens of this country
on the tactics of Anna Hazare. Several convenient articles are picked up and
posted on goanet. While there are an equal number to show why Anna's
methodologies are detrimental to democracy, they are swept under the carpet.
There are several scams unearthed by Gujarati news agencies which are never
accessible to the English readers.
The author looks at 'democracy' in theory but the practical political reality
in India is different. There are political forces who do not believe in
democracy and dislike all-inclusive decision making. That is what imposition
and August deadlines for a jan Lok Bill by a mob is all about. I believe it is
a mob and not a mass movement as portrayed by news channels. If a one lakh
crowd in Delhi and few hundred in a couple of metros is a mass movement, then
God save our country! We have the case of a student who was driven into the
river and killed by students because he refused to support the anti-corruption
movement. We have umpteen examples of intolerance to other view points by those
in the anti-coprruption movement.
The present anti-corruption crusade has much more to it than what meets the
eye. As I have said, 'the fascist script is written'. As it unfolds, the
anti-corruption hysteria of the metro class will begin to vanish. Truth takes
its own time to manifest itself. If everyone knew the Truth, there wiould have
been no wrong choices.
