My two cents worth: 1: Sweeping the garbage on the streets of Goa = Good. 2: Making sweeping generalizations about Inpat or Expat Goans = Not so Good. 3: Expats send funds to their families in Goa = True 4: Some of the families in Goa spend the funds wisely, some others do not; Some others spend the funds as though it grows on expat trees, expecting - nay demanding more - while claiming that 'nobody' sends them any funds. They must be in possession of a printing press. 5: Expat funds have kept Goa's economy above ground - ask the possorcars. 6: Expats do not drive the cost of living up; their funds, often spent by inpats, do. 7: That allegedly rent-back concrete jungle in the Calangute-Baga area is a disgrace. It is a product of expat nostalgia, expat funds and inpat ingenuity.
8: Please do not blame the expat Goans for their nostalgia or their ignorance. They are probably unaware that the Goa they knew has been converted into Bellary. jc
