The Anna arrogance seems to have reached new heights with a member of the team claiming the Anna is above the parliament of this country and can dictate matters to parliament. This has all the ingredients of the proto-type of BJP modules of projecting Congress as corrupt, mocking at dynastic rule and challenging its opponets to project their prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP presented its able and clean leader AB Vajpayee as PM at that election with the promise to eradicate corruption and build the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The nation witnessed the hollowness of these BJP claims for five years or more. BJP is in the habit of adopting a holier than thou attitude and dictating ground rules for politics hoping to bait their opponents. In 2004 it created a scare about Sonia Gandhi an Italian bahu taking over the reigns of the country. The threat to the country was so grave that the saffron women threatened to shave their heads and some others were perhaps on the verge of wearing ash and sack cloth. Congress played its trump card by installing Manmohan Singh as PM and the BJP hit its nose on the floor. Since then they were muted until their recent emboldened adventure of once again creating mass hysteria against corruption in the country. Now Anna is adopting similar modules of baiting the Congress and setting ground rules by certifying clean political parties and candidates in this country. Either you support Jan Lok Pal by signing a declaration before His Highness Anna or else you are unclean and a corrupt citizen. The India Against Corruption is not far from even ordering that all those Indians who refuse to support Anna should be drowned in the river. Launching the Congress hatao campaign in Hisar constituency, which interestingly could not exactly be dubbed a Congress bastion, team Anna is hoping to project Anna as a political spoiler in the event that Congress fails to get its candidate elected in the bye-poll. The campaign also coincides with Advani's yatra against corruption which hit the roads with western type rock bands. The BJP type arrogance is so great that team Anna now appears to claim that 'Anna is Parliament and, Parliament is Anna'. Every new day is an interesting day as the anti-corruption crusade gets murkier and murkier while the jaundiced designs get clearer. Let Democracy triumph! -Soter D'Souza
