MARGAO: The Public Works Department (PWD) is racing against time to complete
the works at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, as it is to be handed over to the IFFI
committee by November 15.

The PWD chief engineer, Mr Zezito Rego informed that the IFFI committee from
Delhi is slated to inspect the work at Ravindra Bhavan on October 28.
The main focus of the work is the completion of the outdoor seating, stage,
landscaping and parking lots.

"We have had an inspection along with Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and are
assured of finishing all work by November 5," said Mr Rego.
The ESG CEO, Mr Manoj Srivastava, confirmed that the inspection of Ravindra
Bhavan will be carried out next Friday by the IFFI committee, and expressed
confidence that Ravindra Bhavan will be ready to host the opening ceremony on
November 23.

One of the PWD contractors pointed out that the biggest hurdle at the venue is
the fact that landscaping and construction work are being done side-by-side,
making it difficult to move material into the Ravindra Bhavan courtyard,
thereby delaying the work.
Also, a tussle broke out at the Ravindra Bhavan as the cables laid by the
Electricity Department for the lamps in the parking lot were damaged during the
excavation by the contractor involved in fixing the wrought iron gate.

Ravindra Bhavan’s vice president, Mr Sridhar Kamat stated that he is unable to
comment on the work and the IFFI team’s inspection since he is out of station
at the moment.
Ravindra Bhavan is currently closed for staging any kind of performances as it
lacks a quality toilet facility because of the renovation works being carried
out and people are forced to use the mobile toilets placed behind the building.

Post of IFFI 2011 added by www.goa-world.com

We, at goa-world.com, do not wish to have everyone SPEAKING in HINDI only even
to the RISKSHAWALLAHS which are hired to ferry THOSE WHO are interested to
reach SUCH VENUES,
and NONE OF THOSE INVOLVED IN IFFI, ever THINK OF GOANS, the Goan culture and
during this festival, Except ENJOYING on the Kingfishers!   Free,
LOT OF GARBAGE spilled around the venues! a la Bharati 'estyile'
as if the GOANS are responsible for the whole EPISODE.
This year, Malayalam Films, will be the main feature!

Isn't it a responsibilty of the Goans and those organizing the GOAN CONVENTIONS
and those PROPOGATING the State Language enhancement to feature a SINGLE
KONKANI FILM?
Specially those which are produced, with the Govt. incentives, from ABROAD?

Just blaming the PWD?  or those at the helm will not dillute the duties and
responsibilities of those involved with this HIGHLY lucative IFFI
presentations, without any adherance to the Goan cultural and Catholic
religious significance, specially to the Goan Patron Saint, Saint Francis
Xavier (SFX).

May be IFFI thinks it is just Digambara, Didagbara..... istilye..... , and all
the Goan Ministers and MLAs (of the Catholic faith included) follow likewise,
and all those involved in supporting the KONKANI State Language of Goa,
including the PRINCIPAL party in power, will wake up only when SOME TIATRISTS
or some BANDH will be in place.......
