KIND ATTENTION MR. SUJAY GUPTA - EDITOR
This is regarding the above subject report on your esteemed daily.
The Goa Su-Raj Party objects to your above said report vis a via the last
paragraph which reads as under:-
" The earlier avatar of GRA was GOA SU-RAJ PARTY which had contested
elections from certain constituencies but failed to make an impact. This
time with a wider base, they hope to emerge victorious. The 'Party' said one
of the main issues they will be addressing ......"
1. At no point at the Press Conference was it mentioned that GRA is a
registered Political Party, nor the name of GOA SU-RAJ PARTY was ever
mentioned, nor any question was asked by any representatives of the 'PRESS'
[including your reporter] relating GRA to Goa Su-Raj Party. On the contrary
it was boldly mentioned that GRA is a collective of various NGOs, Civil
Rights Groups and Conscientious/fighting citizens, that it is 'NON
APOLITICAL', that it will act as a 'catalyst' to identify fresh faces who
will work for GOA'S betterment and not it's destruction.
2. The objectionable sentences in your report are purely the fiction of your
reporter's imagination or biases.
3. You must note that Goa Su-Raj Party is an 11 year old, registered
regional political party of Goa. If it has failed to make any impact on
Goa's electorate, you very well know the reason why. It is not for lacking
in any ideology for cleaning-up the mess that Goa finds itself in, and
increasingly so, today.
4. The Goa Su-Raj Party is no 'avatar' of any body or anyone as it is not
dead yet and is not going to be dead in a jiffy, in spite of many wanting
to see it that way. On the contrary, it is the last straw that GOA will ever
have. You may put these words down as 'prophetic words'.
5. Your reporter's snide remarks as quoted above have been taken as an
affront on both these honourable organizations by most of the membership of
these organizations who view this with utter distaste.
6. If at all the Goa Su-Raj Party has evolved as an 'avatar' of anyone or
anybody, it is from a very successful NGO named 'GOA ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION
GROUP' which has 8 successful Public Interest Litigations to it's credit
and continuing it's good work [without any GREASE packets of Rs. 25 lakhs].
Therefore the GSRP may be considered as a political party with a heart of a
successful NGO, therefore seeking it's own level with true and dedicated
NGOs.
