7TH EAST AFRICAN GOAN CONVENTION IN DAR ES SALAAM -TANZANIA
I would like to congratulate the Chairman Mr. Savio Fernandes and his committee
for the stupendous success of this convention ,the turn out of delegates was
phenomenal and is worth mentioning , they put up a great show and it did make
a huge difference, the theme ‘Inspire, Aspire and Achieve’ was apt for this
convention. It was a great feeling to meet many Goenkars who were speaking
Konkani and very eager to learn and sing Konkani songs too.
The positive highlights of the convention were many but what caught my
imagination was the performance of a young band called Dynamite , what a mind
blowing performance it was a very youthful group and they really kept the
delegates enthralled with their soothing music , some members from the Band
kept on rotating on the instruments which meant every member could play every
instrument which was a delight, the young girls who were drumming sometimes on
the keyboard, guitar and singing, in short they were all round, the next was a
medley song by a very young boy with a very clear voice he just sang superbly
. The games round was full of fun too.
The church service gave a lot of peace of mind , the choir sang exceptionally
well , I enjoyed the Ave Maria solo hymn …and there was one more solo hymn
well sung but the entire group sang very well.
Now coming back to the main theme of the convention …many interesting topics
were discussed, a group of youth too did participate for the said meeting and
they raised some very valid concerns, it ended up on a positive note…
The dinner dance ball beautifully lit up, the trio band FORTES did justice for
that evening by playing great Konkani music , medley’s , English , Portuguese
etc we were mesmerized and enjoyed the music to the core. It would be fun to
have them again for the next years EAGC.
The final day was just getting to know each other , exchanging mails , and so
forth but in short my trip was a success and I enjoyed every bit of it .
Once again thanks to Mr. Savio Fernandes and his team for inviting me to attend
this convention , for giving me an opportunity to sing a couple of Konkani
songs and also I was touched when I was requested to read the second reading
for that day’s church service , that made my day.
Let’s continue to work together in a true Goan spirit ,get away and delete the
tag of CRAB MENTALITY, help each other , be happy with each others success,
and be ready for God’s blessing abundantly ,
There were minor shortfalls too but I will address it with the concerned
directly so that they are not repeated in future .
Let’s continue singing and feeling I am Proud to be a Goan
