Preserving ‘Khell-Tiatr’- The Konkani Musical Drama
Kala Academy Goa and West Zone Cultural Centre Udaipur organize
‘Khell-Tiatr’ Festival annually with the aim of preserving the Konkani
Musical Drama- ‘Khell-Tiatr’. This year Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will
collaborate with Kala Academy Goa and West Zone Cultural Centre Udaipur
for making the Khell-Tiatr Festival Competition a grand success.
In view of this, TAG will give a financial support to the tune of
Rs.10,000/- to each participating troupe. Besides awards for different
aspects of ‘Khell-Tiatr’ such as performance, acting, direction, script
and other technical aspects will also be awarded.
The basic idea of supporting ‘Khell-Tiatr’ Festival is that the
traditional format of ‘Khell-Tiatr’ must be maintained. The traditional
characteristics of ‘Khell-Tiatr’ are:-
(i) One story line from beginning to end with an interval of 10 to 15
minutes.
(ii) At least 12 Cantos i.e. songs of two verses and one chorus. All
these songs or Cantos must be related to the theme of the play.
(iii) Comedy in the play must be directly linked to the theme of the
Khell-Tiatr.
Prescribed Application Forms are available at the office of Kala Academy
Goa and the last date to enter is 25th November 2011.
