Hi Freddy, Appreciate your post. I truly like posts where the writer introspects and offers examples from lived existence.
What I appreciated about your thoughts is that they could be applied to so many things, besides physical fitness and . Over the years it became clear to me that we in India are often cocksure of too many things. This was/is still perhaps on account of an unwillingness to spend time finessing a form/understanding technique; lack of facilities, the idea of sharing particularly techniques and good practices, access to advice and mentorship intransigent mindsets; faulty beliefs, developing meaningful relationships, etc. I am now out of India, but this was foremost on my mind even while a student at JJ Applied and earlier at Khalsa, At Khals, I did everything right regards long distance training, but my nutrition was woefully inadequate. Although I did not study Painting at JJ, and my training is largely didactic, it was on account of intense and correct methodologies (for lack of a better word) by which I covered/and continue to cover immense ground over the years. Coming closer to my point: The ability to mold the body to function in certain ways towards specific tasks is very crucial to the artist and I dare say dictates what he/she does over time. To draw as I do requires immense focus, the ability to breathe a certain way, not have the body go down on you and cause pain. Recently in Japan, I had to draw in the seiza position at a intense ritual which I would not have been earlier able to do for the length of time I had to hold that position if not for the buildup towards developing that ability. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150262234812370&set=a.10150262232132370.346704.605552369&type=3&theater You post brought these thoughts to mind. ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto Message: 9 > Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2011 05:58:10 +0000 > From: Freddy Fernandes <[email protected]> > To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > > (Fom Con) > Aging makes one physically inflexible. > Some tips here. > http://www.cmcrossroads.com/bradapp/docs/rec/stretching/stretching_5.html > > > Con, > (DEL, 2 paras) > > I use to work on most of my joints and had no problems whatsoever, I > always started with the neck and ended with the neck, I use to follow the > same routine week in and week out, till one fine day an Uzbac (an ex > gymnast) who had been watching me in the gym told me that what I was doing > would do me more harm than good in the long run and showed me the correct > postures and techniques and it helped me a lot but unfortunately the damage > was already done.
