It was officially WAC(I).  Anyone watch 'Francis the talking mule meets the 
WACs' :  In the US, they were 'army,' unlike 'auxiliary' as in Britain and

Probably a World War II acronym, Selma. "WACs" was used to describe those who 
belonged to the Women's Auxiliary Corps. The "I" might have stood for "India".
Just a wild guess; Eric might be better informed.
