Dear Eddie
As you know, one holding public office must have the highest credibility. As a
veteran of the cold war, I must ask you
where you got the idea that I am spreading malicious rumours. You may care to
share these on the net and give me the
opportunity to bring rumour control into effect.
If you had sent me an explanation for not publishing my review of Sixth Night
on Goan Voice and I had not acknowledged it,
please accept my belated apology. Another cold water moment on this well
researched book that portrays our community
as it is.
Getting to your e-mail on the above subject you quote: Selma arranged the
display of books over the three days. This
was not a static display and it changed from hour to hour. Recent books and
cookery books sold relatively well and the
display kept changing of course! Unquote
Your explanation is interesting, as Selma did not mention the display of books
being changed every hour in any of her very
detailed e-mails. She mentions negotiating selling space, negotiating a time
slot to launch books, lugging around 300
books, spending hours hawking books (on foot), collecting money, not having
time for mingling or socialising, being
tethered to the book-selling space and even going without lunch! Etc, etc, etc.
She even mentions her spouse's bad
back! It is therefore strange that in such detailed postings from her, the book
display being changed every hour has
never been mentioned especially in the light of her comments on shortage of
manpower! Have you now come up with this
explanation (which one can still debate) as none of the photographs on Goan
Voice that I have viewed show Sixth Night on
display?
All said and done, the column inches of discussion on Sixth Night will have
done justice to bring the book from the store
room as a gift idea for a great read during Christmas and the Happy Holiday
period. For those interested this book is
available now on Amazon.
I trust discussion on this matter can now be concluded.
Best wishes.
