Folks,
I have always felt that Mario was of the truly great cartoonists of India.

I used to religiously wait for the weekly "Illustrated" to arrive at the Dar es
Salaam Institute library in the 1960's and 1970's.  At the time, I was hoping
that Mario Miranda was a Goan and not someones pen name. My mom later told me
that the economics book she used in college had doodles in it done by Mario.
After using his economics text book, Mario passed it on to his cousin who then
sold it to my mom.

Thanks to Alfred de Tavares, I had a chance encounter with Mario a few years
ago. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Rest in Peace, Mario.

Here is a scene drawn by him that I have hung up in my living room. It is from
an era gone by.

P.S. I did not realize that Mario had also done cartoons for "Mad." If anyone
has the links, I would love to see them.
