To Goanet - Recently I received an email from a resident of Panjim saying that the noise from the evening cruise ships has made life miserable for him and his family. I don't know what to say. As I have often wondered here in the past - What, short of a nuclear explosion, is it going to take for the Goan to shift his ass?
I have received several notices from the Goa Pollution Board. They have proof and it is in writing that the cruise operators are in violation, yet no action is ever taken. When I go and raise some hell, the noise stops for about a week and then it is back to normal. The cruise owners and the authorities are all in league. Btw, I once confronted a cruise ship owner (one of the GBA nobodies) about this issue. He claimed that his own ship never exceeded the decibel limits, but before I could question him further he bolted from the scene. Yeah, quite the savior of Goa, the guy.
