TAG’s Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Awards 2011 On the occasion of 140th Birth Anniversary of Father of Tiatr – Joao Agostinho Fernandes – on 14th December 2011, Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) honoured 9 veteran tiatr artistes of tiatr stage with the presentation of Lifetime Contribution to Tiatr Awards. This year's prestigious award recipients are: John Claro Fernandes (writer & director) Abdonio Rodrigues (musician /Dummer) Sabina Fernandes (actress) Jack Souza Ferrao (writer, director & actor) Shrirang Narvekar (organizer of tiatrs) Betty Naz (actress) Josinho D’Souza (musician Sax etc) Eddie Mascarenhas (actor, director & singer) and Kamalakant Chari (stage setting provider). or you can jump to this blog for more updates etc http://joegoauk-konkani-tiatr-vcds-films.blogspot.com/2011/12/tag-honoured-9-tiatrists-sabina-betty.html The Award consists of a shawl, citation, memento and a cash amount of Rs. 20,000/- Shri. Digambar Kamat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, was the Chief Guest and the veteran Tony Sax, a popular tiatr artiste of yester years was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Awards were given away at the hand of Chief Minister Ravindra Bhavan, Pai Tiatrist Hall, Margao 14th Dec. 2011. President of TAG, Tomazinho Cardozo briefly explained the aim of the Tiatr Academy of Goa i.e Development with mention of its 36 schemes launched for the pourpose. (also see a video separately). Chief Guest CM Digambar Kamat talked about the song he sang here about 3 years ago making him internationaly famous (Thanks to the Internet/YouTube). He also said there were so many objections on naming the present Tiatr Hall after Pai Tiatrist but he said he kept his word by overcoming all such hurdles (More of his speech, pl watch a clip separately uploaded soon). I must say it again here, that Digambar is the right and capable or deliverable person as the minister for Art and Culture dept. and I have said it even long before he become the Chief Minister. Besides, credit for formation of TAG and naming the Tiatr Hall, we all know, goes to him. While thanking TAG, Sabina said one does not get such awards just like that nor one can buy it in shops but one has to earn for it through hard work, sacrifices and sincerity. (watch video) Roseferns (Vice President of TAG) welcomed all and Victor de Sa (TAG's member secretary) proposed vote of thanks. Anthony San and his toupe staged a musical show ‘Goykaranchem Sukh’ in which popular artistes Felcy, Roma, Clarissa, Socorro de St. Cruz, Aniceto, John D’Silva, Nato, Remy, Joe, Peter de Pedda, Philip de Sanvordem participated. Anthony San and Felcy in their song/act paid tribute to Late Robin Vaz, Late M Boyer and Late Alfred Rose John D'Silva with Com.
