http://74.127.61.178/herald/Details.aspx?id=2920&boxid=5732218&uid=&dat=12/17/2011 *Politicians blamed for creating slums* PAnJim: Lashing out at the politicians, the Goa muslim Forum ( GmF) blamed the political leaders for creation of slums, which translate into vote bank for them. “ People living in slums are used during elections and after they vote, no one turns to them,” GmF coordinator shaikh iftikar said. he pointed out that the slum areas spread across the state have 90 percent muslim population, which includes Goans as well as migrants. “ These areas don’t have proper sanitation or adequate facilities like drinking water and electricity,” iftikar added stating ‘ these people are just voters for the local leaders, who hold huge meetings and rallies in these areas during elections’.
