And the above piece of marvel is all the more intriguing because after going over it twice, I am still groping in the dark to understand exactly what he wants to say. COMMENT: My dear Floriano, Your good gaumbhau and my eminent neighbour-in-law (whom you lovingly call '2-tone de Souza' ) has been doing a superb balancing act for many years. Not very sure which side the scale tips or if it tips on any one side depending upon the political dispensation in power in Lisboa. However, the above referenced TRS article (? script of a speech) is unlikely to make much sense to non-academics like you and me. It is written at a much higher level than we are ever likely to comprehend. It almost made me think that your village was also known as Lagoa da Confusão. But, I understand that the place is in Brazil. Anyway, I did digress - as usual. While TRS was struggling to balance his act, I struggled to understand what (if any) sense he was making. To compound my difficulties, were the following: In para 1: There is a clumsy sentence within brackets which mentions 'High Level Goans' in operational command. Could not be Kunbis like me, I suppose. Did he mean to write: Goans at a high level in the operational command? Perhaps. Perhaps not. BTW: Besides Eric, how many 'High Level Goans' were there in operational command? In para 2: I was confronted by this phrase: 'Goans OF all walks of life'. When I read it I wondered whether TRS had wanted to state ''Goans FROM all walks of life' but made a 'mishtek'.....like I do all the time. In para 4: I was confused when TRS stated: 'We welcome the Portuguese co-organisers'. Isn't TRS Portuguese? or is he Goan but not Portuguese at some times and Goan or Portuguese at others. Well.... I better stop. Otherwise I could be accused of 'picking' excessively on TRS whose intellect I definitely admire. Regret to add that after reading his submission (I almost needed Caju Feni which I hate) I came to the conclusion that he is just like me - an average person who is doing his best to earn a living. Nothing wrong with that, Is there? jc --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
