Birthdays of current politicians or those aspiring to be MLAs in the coming
elections, appear to be big business for Goan newspapers. Everyday, when I read
The Herald or Navhind Times online, I am astonished to see theadvertisements or
pull-outs in celebration of some person's birthday! Thanks to these folks,
these two newspapers can survive for a long time!
The Alemao family seems to be at the forefront of this advertisement blitz. It
appears that we might have 4 orperhaps 5 Alemaos in the next Assembly! This in
itself will be some sort of a record.
To accommodate all the people with political aspirations, how about increasing
the size of the Assembly to 80??But, it could be a distinct possibility. After
all, Goa's has been liberated for 50 years. Aspiring politicians need new means
to feed their familiesand recover their investments! Alternately, new
corporations can be set up to appoint new Chairpersons!!
Don't take me too seriously folks -- I am just joking!
