ROLAND, GREAT WORK,SALAAM,
WITH UTMOST RESPECT, THE PORTUGUESE RULE HAS WIPED OUT, SORRY EMASCULATED ,THE
GOAN SPIRIT ( OR IS IT MORE PROPER TO INCLUDE MALES AND EXCLUDE FEMALES?) IN
SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES THAT EXIST IN GOO.. AAH, I BELIEVE, IN ANY OTHER INDIAN
STATE WOULD HAVE INVITED A MASSIVE UPHEAVAL. REASON ENOUGH TO SEEK " SPECIAL
STATUS".
DIEHARDS ( GOAN BY ORIGIN, BUT EDUCATED IN INDIA THAT IS BHARAT, OR ELSEWHERE
) STILL BELIEVE THAT THE SITUATION CAN BE REVERSED. HOPE IS THE ETERNAL OPIUM
OF THE GOAN DIASPORA!!!!!!!!

Greetings for the New Year !
As we begin 2012 GOACAN takes this
opportunity to remind you that the
Consumer Protection Act has completed
25 years (1986 - 2011) so let us resolve
to promote & protect our Civic & Consumer
Rights and ensure Consumer Literacy in
Goa.
As 2012 is also a year that will see ourselves
going to the polls to elect the Legislative
Assembly and Village Panchayats, GOACAN
reminds you to resolve to participate in Making
Democracy Work in Goa.
While most people complain about the about
the situation of Sanitation, Garbage and the
state of the Environment, GOACAN reminds
you that now is not the time to AGONISE, but
it is the time to ORGANISE.
As we begin 2012 with the National Road
Safety Week, GOACAN reminds you to resolve
to ensure the formation of the Road Safety &
Traffic Management Committee in every Village
Panchayat & Municipal Council. Remember one
person dies in a road accident every 28 hours
in Goa, so if you are not working for the
SOLUTION then you are definitely part of the
PROBLEM.
This 2012 ensure your Right to be Informed
and use the Right To Information Act 2005,
GOACAN also reminds you to protect your
RIGHT to KNOW and defend your RIGHT to
SAY NO.
This 2012 let the FRIDAY BALCAO be a
reminder of the importance of regular discussion,
that Knowledge is Power and it must be shared
Equitably and most of all, lets make things happen
in our Vaddos, our Buildings, our Villages, our
Offices and our Campuses in Goa.
This 2012 let the SOCIAL ISSUES CALENDAR
remind us that we still need to break the barriers
of religion, caste, gender & ethnicity to understand
the many issues in Society. Let us contribute to
Activism, Solidarity and Empowerment to make
Goa a better place to live in.
We thank you for your support & participation in
the activities of GOACAN and GOA DESC Resource
Centre and look forward to your continued solidarity
in 2012.
