GET READY FOR 'INDO GERMAN CONFLUENCE - II'

The Indo German Educational and Cultural Society Goa and Guitar Guild
Goa (GGG) in collaboration with Kala Academy Goa and Music University of
Nuremberg, Germany are hosting a festival of Western Classical music
titled Indo German Confluence - II.
This 12 day festival will specially commemorate the 60 years of
friendship between Germany and India as well as the Golden Jubilee of
Goa's liberation
From January 11 to 15, 2012 there will be public and private
masterclasses, lectures and workshops for violin, cello and piano. These
will be offered by Professor Ulf Klausenitzer, Hartmut Krause, Rudiger
Clauss and Lin Lin Fan. Klausenitzer and Fan are both from the Music
University of Nuremberg; while Krause and Clauss are from the Frankfurt
Opera Orchestra.
The Festival will also see rehearsals and instruction for 2012 Festival
String Orchestra comprising musicians from Goa State Symphony Orchestra,
guest musicians from India and the team from Germany. It will be
conducted by Prof. Klausenitzer and have Hartmut Krause as concertmaster.
The concert series of this Festival will start from January 16, 2012.
Jan 16 - Opening concert of violin duets by Klausenitzer and Krause
accompanied by Lin Lin Fan on piano, at Kala Academy.
Jan 17 - Violin and Piano concert by Sanya Cotta and Lin Lin Fan, at
Kala Academy
Jan 18 - 2012 Festival String Orchestra performance at Goa Institute of
Management Auditorium with soloists Pheroze Mistri, Ash-ley Rego and
Sanya Cotta.
Jan 19 - Public Performance of the Finalists of the 3rd David Menezes
National Violin Competition 2012, at Kala Academy.
Jan 20 - 2012 Festival String Orchestra performance at Kala Academy with
soloists Pheroze Mistri, Ashley Rego and Sanya Cotta.
Jan 21 - Top Dog Brass Band from Dresden, Germany.
Jan 22 - Closing concert by members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra from
Berlin, Germany.
The third David Menezes National Violin Competition 2012 is an event
that is organized by GGG about every three years, since it began in
2005. The first prize for the competition is Rs 50,000, the second prize
is Rs 30,000 and third prize is Rs 20,000. Consolation prizes of Rs
5,000 each will be awarded to the remaining finalists. It is sponsored
by the CMM Group of which late David Menezes was a director; he was well
known for his philanthropy and work for musical causes, being passionate
about violin playing himself.
