That the Goa government is not serious on tackling corruption is very clear
if one sees the current state of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) at the
Vigilance department. It was already virtually paralyzed, being managed by
just one Police Inspector, Mr. Nilesh Rane, along with a part-time
Superintendent of Police, Mr. Bosco George, who is also a full time ADC to
the Governor of Goa.

Now with the transfer of PI Rane and no replacement posted, the ACB has
virtually gone into a coma which must have come as a great relief to those
being probed for corruption. With no sign of a Lokayukta it is very
important to resuscitate the ACB by posting a competent team of officers.

One also fails to understand why the current part-time Goa Governor, Mr. K.
Sankaranarayana, needs two full time ADCs. SP Bosco George could be made to
head the ACB full time as there is no point keeping a skilled and
experienced officer hanging around as the Governor’s page-boy while also
having him so helplessly oversee the corruption that is going on
overtime.
