I was a victim at two banks - I withdrew from one bank (a bundle of 1000x100) only to deposit into another. There they detected a fake note... went back to Canara Bank within 15 minutes of withdrawal and they exchanged the note 'just like that'....
if it was not in a bundle, I am sure they would have reported me to the Police (which is the normal practice). COMMENT: Very strange (indeed) that a bank could pass on a fake note to a client. Most banks have (or should have) automatic detecting + counting machines. Something fishy going on in that bank. You are very right. It could have gotten quite bad ... for an unsuspecting individual. http://digitalsindia.com/UV%20Currency%20Detector.htm (about 2000 Rs) In the UK one can get a hand held one quite inexpensively via Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-violet-light-torch-Blacklight/dp/B000JU0MQS/ref=pd_cp_light_0 While most of our transactions are plastic - all cash transactions go through the UV light check. Not a bad item to possess. jc --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
