Let Us Do It For Goa
The mystery of one blind leading the other into the gutter is very much
unfolding in Goa at present. The UGDP
and the old "ratol" babe trying to set new trends on the Goan political
catwalk, with the GVP. The age old cliché "birds of the same feathers flock
together" holds very much true but unfortunately the law of magnetism is
evidently repelled as like poles have attracted each other.
The credibility of both parties leaves much to be desired, it is not even fair
to say "among the blind one eyed is the king" as both party leaders look to be
devoid of even a single eye as they stagger, blinded by their own arrogance and
attitude even though there is ample light all around them. Even before the man
in the black coat hijacked the UGDP citadel for political bliss, his uncanny
ill reputation had transcended way beyond the corridors of the court of law so
he was neither accepted nor loved by the people at large infact people showed
their disgust at the last elections. On the other hand the swaggering buccaneer
though uneducated won the hearts of the people of Benaulim with his very first
move on the Goan political chess board, yes he had charm then but fortunately
or unfortunately his numerous escapades has brought his own down fall and as
such he is become "nam ghar ka nam ghat ka". The amalgamation of the UGDP and
the GVP looks to be done with ratol rather than fevicol, as such it has "nam
mazbuthi nam dham."
The MGP too, after fritting and toying with the BJP initially, have surely
realized that, the insecurity of BJP's communal tinge, whose virility has been
further reduced by the wrongly administered MOI power pack, are certainly no
substitute for the oversized and over stretched thickness of the Congress
pockets and as such it looks as though MGP feel more secure in the Congress
fold but only time will tell if the artificially induced inflated pockets will
stand the test of time or burst open and deflate at just a prick of a needle.
The credibility of the Congress is at its lowest, which over the years has
certainly ebbed to the very bare minimum. Congress has time and again shown,
that character or the reputation of their candidates, is relevant as long as
they seem to have the money to buy votes. Even the very people that betrayed
them at the twelfth hour have not only been taken back in the fold but also
rewarded with plump ministries falling prey to their blackmails. Does the
Congress have any ethics or even pride and dignity left ? Thus far, loot and
let loot has been the anthem of the Congress in Goa ? Under the Congress
corruption has excelled and flourished in the guise of development and hope we
Goans are Goans enough to give a fitting reprisal to the Congress for their
anti Goan RP, stagnant governance, corruption and support for illegal mining.
The hand that was suppose to support us in the time of need has smacked us in
the face and plundered our resources and left us stunned and angry. While the
Lotus has only attracted the saffron tinged bumble bees with the unhealthy
communal sting to divide Goans. We certainly do not need national parties who
only espouse corruption and communalism to exhaust our resources, damage our
environment and create disharmony among Goans but all is not lost yet because
this time we certainly have a choice.
The GRA has declared that it will be contesting elections as a political party
and the ZGE have stated that they will be fielding their independent
candidates, it is these people who have been fighting against the acrimonious
RP, illegal mining and mega projects all over Goa, they have sacrificed their
professions, family life, their time and money to protect our interests. They
have fought well to preserve and protect what's left of Goa and now they are
all set to join the system in order to clean the system from within. So it is
up to us Goans who have been drumming our chests that we are Niz Gõykars, even
though we always voted against the interests of Goa and Goans and justified our
actions by saying that there were no alternative candidates. Now that situation
has changed, we have an alternative party and we have alternative candidates,
now it is up to the Niz Gõykars not just to do the needful but to do it right.
Do it for Goa, for ourselves and for our posterity. Goa jai ho !
