Dear Floriano and others: The trend has been to unquestionably lionise the leaders of the past, whether Dr Sequeira or Bahusaheb Bandodkar. Generally, I have a problem with these identity politics though, which pit human being against another... Yes, they did believe in what they did, and thought their actions were all for the best. But what is the long-term impact that this had on a Goa of the next few decades? Often, the story is not as it is made out to be by the hagiographers, official or otherwise. There are often wheels within wheels, and many issues which are simply not noticed by the public eye. Here are a couple of links which give another insight into the manoeuvrings of the time.
