Starring Lilette Dubey (*Monsoon Wedding, Heroine*), Sachin Bhatt (Bombay Dreams, *The Ode*, NBC’s “Outsourced”), Sarita Joshi (*Guru, *TV’s “Baa Bahu aur Baby”) and Pooja Kumar (*Bollywood Hero, Man on a Ledge*), “*Bollywood Beats”* takes audiences on a touching journey as dreams are realized and family is shown to be more than just blood ties. Aspiring hip hop dancer Raj is having trouble getting back on his feet after his girlfriend dumps him, a major audition ends in failure, and his parents threaten to kick him out of their home. That’s when fate brings him Jyoti, an attractive older woman who spots Raj practicing his dance moves and suggests he start his own dance class for Indian women. Though only a few women show up at first – and they are all skeptical about the class – after one class they’re all hooked on his dance lessons. As the class grows, Raj and his students end up finding love, friendship and acceptance where they never thought to look. In the vein of films like “*Bend it Like Beckham and Strictly Ballroom*”, *“Bollywood Beats”* is a feel-good comedy about an unlikely group of friends all looking to dance to the beat of their own drum. Featuring a catchy soundtrack of Bollywood-inspired beats and eye-popping dance sequences, *“Bollywood Beats*” is a feat of inspirational storytelling and dancing to the beat of one’s heart. * “Bollywood Beats”* was featured in numerous festivals across the globe, including AFI Dallas, St. Louis International Film Festival, Mumbai International Film Festival, and the New York Indian Film Festival. Mehul Shah began his love for film as an actor in numerous plays and commercials. He then decided to study film at Southern Methodist University, graduating first in his class with a major in Cinema. Being impatient and wanting to direct his first film right after film school, Mehul wrote, produced, and directed a film called "Diwali," a feature film dealing with the struggle of three Indian children growing up in the United States. The film sold to Netflix and Blockbuster immediately, a huge feat for a budding young writer/director. He then went on to write and direct "Bollywood Beats," working with an award winning international cast and crew. His other film credits include, "Tha Bridge" (Producer), "Ticked Off Trannies with Knives" (Assistant Director), and "Hold Your Peace" (Producer). Mehul owns and runs his own film production company, Kinetik Films LLC, which specializes in producing, shooting, and editing feature films and commercials in Dallas, TX.
