Dear Ana Maria Fernandes,

Yes, we too believe that there is nothing wrong in 'priests' contesting elections to serve the poor. The only question is: 'what happens if priests get elected to serve not so much the poor and down-trodden but to serve vested interests (pharizes) such as Baba Ramdevs etc?? If this happens with an ordinary person, we, the people might condone it saying 'well what did we expect?'
But if it is priest or a person of the 'cloth' it would be blasphemous.

That is why priests should not put themselves to tests.
Unless, one is a JC.
:-))
This is, ofcourse, strictly according to my personal views, which could be very very wrong.

Cheers

Subject: [Goanet] Priests in politics

I find there is nothing wrong if a priest joins politics and contest elections and even get elected. What is important is that he once when he is elected live like a christian in all his ways. he works for the poor and downtrodden. He lives like Christ lived on earth. What is wrong in this ? I fully support Fr.Bismark and request other priests instead of doing nothing to help the poor and the depressed join the government become MLAS, minsiters. At least we will have honest ministers and there will be lot of development in our villages and citiesAnn Marie Fernandes
