If press reports are to be believed, then Sripad Naik has played a master
stroke by refusing the BJP ticket for Porvorim constituency. Soft and silent
but he has political shrewdness and understands the under currents in Goa's
politics which activists do not. In forgoing the opportunity to contest, he has
remained an even bigger threat to the actual caste forces weilding power. He
has returned their ingratitude in the same measure. Minus the BJP, Sripad could
emerge as the hope for Goan unity to crush the upper caste designs in Goa's
politics.
