To Goanet - 1) I had a big laugh over Sandeep Heble forwarding to Goanet a link to something written by Sujay Gupta in the Herald. Wasn't this Heble guy recently prancing around holding up Anna Hazare's anti-corruption dhoti? Surely he knows that Sujay Gupta was until recently a hired gun of a prominent miner before he changed his spots and now pretends to be a crusader on behalf of Goans. Surely Heble knows about the sting operation on Herald pulled off by a real journalist Mayabhushan Nagvenkar where he alleges based on recordings that Herald was accepting money in exchange for favourable news items.
Why then is Sandeep Heble now pimping links to Herald? 2) The disgraceful spectacle of the beggars racket in Panjim continues. Every morning they are dropped off and then picked up at the day's end. All through the day they can be seen harassing people at strategic points all over the city. This more than anything symbolizes what India has done to Goa - given us its misery, poverty and filth. This is a violation of the court order issued in April 2008 following my PIL. The CCP has been in violation ever since many other action items it was directed by the High Court to complete. PS: The only people to whom this 'slumification' of Goa is acceptable are the "digital humanitarians." The digital humanitarian is full of compassion for less fortunate and the indigent - AS LONG AS HE DOESN'T BEAR ANY COST, material or otherwise. Fouling a public space? Fine. Shitting by the Mandovi river? Fine. But open his own bathroom to the ghati? No, sir. Can we please change the topic?
