Dear Goanetters, Some contributors on this forum were claiming that the decision of the last Kangress government on MOI was democratic. This election was there real chance to make it democratic by putting it in their party manifesto or at least Kangress leaders like Alemao, Monseratte etc who are clearly in favour of English as MOI in primary schools forcing their party to put this in the election manifesto. That would have nicely wiped Kangress out of existence in many constituencies. However, it seems they will again do this through the back door and after the elections, High Court permitting.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday here, TC President said Alemao should explain how on June 18, the advocate general asked for a stay on the circular that allowed grants to English medium schools. “Alemao should explain on this,”asserted Dr Souza. The High Court stayed the circular after Bharatiya Bhasha Surksha Manch (BBSM) challenged the circular of the government. “Let him explain how it was allowed,”stated Dr D’Souza.
