1.With utmost respect to the views expressed on this Forum by various
contributors, as an Indian Citizen who has an abiding interest in the North
eastern States of India, may I point out that the people comprisng the current
North Eastern States of India are TRIBAL POPULATIONS, wherein each Tribe till
today do not understand the unique tribal language of other TRIBES.It is a fact
that in Nagaland the people use "NAGAMESE" to be comprehensible. Nagamese is
not a language in the Classical sense but a dialect of convenience to
communicate in a basic way. Similarly , it perhaps might come as a surprise to
some of us that the most used language in Arunachal Pradesh ( which is a
hothouse of tribal culture) is HINDI . Hindi binds the TRIBAL population of
Arunachal Pradesh.
2. Animism or Naturalism used to be the predominant religion of the tribal
people inhabitng North East India.They are genetically related to the Mongoloid
stock which has continued to inhabit these regions , and are genetically
related to the Chinese , in what now constitutes the so called Peoples Republic
of Chna.
History has recorded that the British Empire used English and Hindi to meld
these peoples into what was then the British Indian Empire.
3. An intense sense of hurt on the British not giving them "INDEPENDENT STATUS"
has fuelled the insurgency in the Northeast,and which insurgency has taken
violent dimensions, quite mercifully unlike OPINIONS in Goa which
are infinitesmilly negligible, about the Status of Goa after the OUSTER of the
Portuguese Regime from Goa. These hurt sensibilites have been assuaged by the
great and strenous efforts of the Union of India and today the peoples of the
NorthEast have reconciled themselves by and large to be proud citizens of the
Republic of India that is Bharat rather than to be citizens of the Peoples
Republic of China or the State of Burma or the Republic of Nepal (Now) earlier
the Kingdom of Nepal. Nay , the peoples of the North East have enthusiastically
enrolled in the NAGA REGIMENT constituted by the Union of India, and have
covered themselves in glory in defending the Union of India. Unfortunately a
GOA REGIMENT of the Indian Army could not be
set up due to it being not feasible on account of the slow demographics of
Goa. The Hindu beliefs did not accept the Tribals mainly on account of the
Tribals eating raw food , both vegetarian and flesh, thus referring to them as
"ADI MANAV" ( half humans, or not fully human) The Christian missionaries
accepted them as fully human and fully worthy of attention as fellow human
beings which resulted in a mass exodus to the Christian way of Thought (as
opposed to religion) How do populations escape from fatalism which paints them(
their past and future generations) in a corner forever by sheer accident of
birth or belief or eating preferences?????
Is it time for our esteemed contributors to factor in these missing facts in
their discourse?
