Folks, For those interested, here is the souvenir of the 50th Anniversary of the Dar es Salaam Institute - 1969. 1) The Foreword is written by the army chief, Major General Sarakikya. He played hockey for the army team and comments on the efforts of the Goans to raise funds for the Olympic team. 2) The then Minister of Finance claims to be a member of the Institute 3) There are detailed notes of the accomplishments of Goans in sports including the soccer team beating all the E. African national soccer teams in a particular year. Then there are notes on Goans captaining both the Hockey and cricket teams, winning the national badminton tournaments and representing Tanzania at the All Africa Games in Cairo. 4) Those of you in Goa may recognize the advert of Francis Cabral, who later founded Cabral SC in Goa. 5) Our own Vivian D'souza is listed as the trustee of the Institute. Vivian was also involved with the Washington, D.C. Goan club when I lived there. 6) This souvenir really captures the flavor of that era.
