My dearest Sandra and Mena, It is with great pain that I write you two this email. Today has been a very sad day for me. And I am enlisting you help. Please Please help me to make this issue come to the light of global public attention. We must act now. Our Goa is being destroyed while we cooly sit abroad and let things continue to happen as they are. Irreparable damage is being done to our GOA which is one of the world's 12 biodiversity hotspots on EARTH. If you have any love for me please show it through campaigning for a good cause. I urge you to go to this site http://www.avaaz.org/po/contact and ask the Avaaz team to suggest a campaign (Sugestões de campanha) to save our Goa from destruction. I have never asked you for anything but now I am, please pass this on to all the GOANS you know, inside and outside of Portugal. We GOANS are in every corner of the globe and I know we can make a difference if we all act in communion. Today I got tears in my eyes after watching this and I can no longer bury my head in the ground (like an Ostrich) and pretend that I do not see what is going on. How my beautiful GOA is being raped. I am sure that if a person was being raped everyone would be very bold to make a noise about it and shun the rapist. This is the same thing only its our mother earth that is being raped in this case. Why should we not care about this and keep our mouths and minds shut. I CAN NOT and if it means I have to chain myself to a tree in any village in GOA where this is happening, I am ready to do just that. Even if it is not the village I am from. Sandra you are a very intelligent person, I urge you to take this challenge on and spread the word, post it on facebook, I dont care how or where you take action but please dont turn a blind eye to this. We will all regret it in the future. Francisco and Margarida will be ashamed of us that we did not take action to stop this madness. So please, I do not want to spoil your mood this evening but take the 22 minutes to watch this attached url and see for yourself what is going on and take some action. We must get every single GOAN no matter in which country they live to stand up and voice their opinion about this issue and make it public and shame the people who are giving the licenses to do this damage to our wonderful GOA in the name of fiat currency and profits. What are we going to do where there is no more arable land left ? eat the paper money ? Sorry for my tone in this email, I am truly disgusted by what I have seen in this documentary today and am making plans to go to GOA and do something myself, not sure yet what, but I know my heart is in the right place and I will think of something to do soon. My own friend is from the Machado family and even though they are rich millionaires thanks to the iron ore mining business, I am sure their family will never have internal peace.
