A last wake-up call to Goenkars
If conversion of Green fertile land into huge concrete structures is
development then nobody can deny the same. A British girl named Scarlet was
raped and murdered on one of our beautiful beaches. A sailor name Cypriano was
picked up by Panjim Police and murdered about more thana year ago, the final
rites on the dead body still not performed. Some of our own Policemen were held
for selling drugs from the Police godowns, involvement of a politician's son in
the same case was also in the news. A murder attempt was made onyouth from
Cavrem for fighting against illegal mining with no results in the case yet. A
woman was picked up and molested in the Police lock-up. Numerous
rapes, murders, robberies, etc reported in the last few years in this one-time
peaceful state of Goa.A senior citizen murdered at Seraulim,Salcette in the
month of January 2012.Russians dominating Morjim and a goan was also killed by
a Russian. World Heritage museum at Old Goa looted and the
security guard murdered. Can the above serious crimes be denied? Are the law
authorities concerned? If so, why the crime rate is increasing in Goa at the
very rapid pace during the last few years.
Recently Goa celebrated 50 glorious years of liberation. Useless speeches were
delivered by useless politicians. Our electedgovernment spoke a lot about
development when in reality, we goans consider to be lost in our own land. Our
agriculture land has been totally misused. Our ground water has been polluted
and our ancestral wells are spoiled. Our legal rights are been sold for
migrants in the name of ration cards and our beautiful hills are been used as
rehabilitation areas for these migrants. The Congress blamed the BJP with
regard to cancellation of catholic holidays during their tenure and the
Congress them self clashed the IFFI with the day of Goencho saib confirming
their respect to the Patron saint of Goa.
In the mining areas of Sanvordem,Quepem half part of the road has always been
occupied by the mining trucks resulting just the remaining half for both ways
vehicular traffic . Life of people including school children is always in
danger while crossing the roads in the area and our government speaks about
development. Though earlier the Shah commission was suppose to submit the
report in the illegal mining, not heard from them since long. Looks like the
powerful people can fix anything in Goa including the elections.
Our elected government has miserably failed to identify the difference between
legal and illegal. Legalisation of illegal is not at all a big deal in Goa
provided one is ready to invest money. The elected representatives
themselvessupports corruption by selling government jobs for money. Common men
has always witnessed different laws for different people. This Rome of the East
has changed a lot but definitely not from good to better but from bad the
worst.
By looking at the present sad state of Goa,at leastwill we wake up now and act
in a right way so that our future generation does not getlost in their own
houses?
