With the elections just a few days away, we Goans are once again faced with a
tough choice,
between the corrupt & the communal. But developments in the last 2 months have
made me wonder
which is a more communal party. The one whose chief minister decided to cancel
the Good Friday
& St. Francis Xavier's feast holidays, or the party whose 2 candidates
indirectly attacked 2
priests?. The alternative to these 2 parties is a STRONG local party.
Not the ones which, as many say, awake from their slumber during elections,
but one which is
there all the days of the year to fight for the right of Goans, THROUGHOUT Goa
& not just in
the South or Salcete! Some may not agree with this, to these people I would
point out the
success of SP & BSP in Uttar Pradesh, Akali Dal in Punjab, NC & PDP in Kashmir,
DMK & AIADMK
in Tamil Nadu & even the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. Looking at their success I
feel sad that we
in Goa cannot boast of the same.
These parties gave a lot of attention to the affairs of the state & sorted
them out,
without having to wait for the "high command" decision & during the time of
National elections aligned with one of the major parties. I know it is too late
for this to happen, but I hope
that in this elections my fellow Goans give a strong verdict indicating a move
towards a
regional party, so atleast by the time of next elections we have a STRONG
regional Goan party
