I had previously written that the March 3 elections results are already known.
The winner is corruption and the loser is Goa and Goans. There is no one to
blame but Goans themselves who keep electing the same set of thieves. Perhaps
this year's silver lining may be the election of a few ethical independents,
although in time they will learn to steal too.
What is true in Goa today is true in much of the rest of the world, but that
should be no solace to a Goan. Powerful corporate business interests, builders,
miners, the military-industrial complex, and other power-centers control
governments at every level and Goa has been abundantly cursed in this respect.
The rich win, the middle-class and poor lose - this is the world we live in.
Amazingly, a large element of the middle-class and poor around the world
support the rich against their own self-interest but that is another story.
Goan politicians (prostitutes) are merely the face of their masters (pimps) who
are responsible for Goa's destruction on various fronts. They get a cut of
every deal. The masters are mega-project builders and miners. They have
destroyed Goan villages, cut forests, polluted the water supply causing
diseases/death, engaged in monumental environmental degradation, facilitated
excess migration into Goa and engage in criminal behavior at every level, etc,
which often benefits non-Goans (including foreigners) and China (mining) at the
expense of Goans. I think for one rupee they would sell their mother, sister,
and daughter (that is the level of their "ethics" in case you were wondering).
Ok, one rupee may be an exaggeration, in reality probably the sale price would
be 50 paise. Saying India is corrupt should not be Goa's excuse.
Goans are now priced out of their own land (how many local Goans can afford the
flats being built with "white" money, the fish being sold in the market, etc.).
Most flats are being sold to non-Goans and foreigners. In the normal course of
economic and demographic movement that would be ok, but the entire system is
illegal and geared to be anti-Goan. In some places there are hardly any Goans
visible (Vasco for example). The pimps operate completely in an illegal
environment (show me one mine or mega-building project today which is
completely legal and I will show you real mermaids).
The Goan voter is not innocent in this process, facilitating these crimes by
accepting a lawless state, including condoning the increased separation along
communal (religious) and caste lines. The 3 C's of corruption, communalism, and
the moral fiction of caste are alive and well in Goa. This crazy concoction
drives a failed Goan state.
Instead of elections, Goa should have criminal trials and keep the prisons
busy. Life-sentences for the politicians/builders/miners and lesser sentences
for the voter (accomplices to the crime should be punished too).
GOA, RIP.
