I am neither a supporter nor a sympathizer of the Bharatiya Janata Party (
BJP ) but they have indeed fared well
in 2012 Elections, all the more creditworthy as they fielded 6 Catholic
candidates and all of them won:
1 Francis D'Souza - Mapusa, 2 Glen D'Souza Ticlo - Aldona 3 Michael Lobo
-Calangute 4Carlos Almeida Vaso
5 Matanhy Saldanha -Cortalim and 6 Nilesh Cabral - Curchorem.
The BJP according to the newspaper reports also supported 2 Independent
Catholic candidates i.e. Avertano
Furtado and Benjamin D'Silva who won in Navelim and Velim respectively.
Micky Pacheco won in the Nuvem constituency and fellow GVP member Caitano
Silva won in Benaulim
constituency.
