The "lotus ' bloomed in this tiny little state this afternoon not owing to its
avowed"Hindutva" agenda but only as a credible alternative to the ruling
dispensation.
The party projection of Mr Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar as Chief
Minister material, who without an iota of doubt has a credible performance
uring his past tenure aroused the supporters of the erstwhile ruling combine to
haul him on the saddle.
Given a majority on its own standing and comfortable number of allies and
independents, the incumbent Chief Minister Mr Parrikar would do well to ensure
that he carries the entire population of Goa together irrespective of caste
religion language or linguistic barriers and above all is receptive to the
wishes of the peoples aspiration on all fronts.
He should stand forewarned that his HINDUTVA agenda is not pursued overtly or
covertly by the RSS cadre who have always otherwise during his past tenure
pursued this agenda clandestinely and stigmatised his otherwise par excellence
performance.
GOANS expect a Goan centric agenda to be pursued. This means restoring the
prestige of Goa and Goans. Mr Parrikar should note well that in the country
Goa and Goans are admired for its religious TOLERANCE (NOT COMMUNAL HARMONY)
and that Goans hold an unique position world wide,
This is the view of many who spoke to this writer post results. They have
forgiven Mr Parrikar's self confessed "'mistakes" of the past (though such
repentence would have been better accepted if it was made on the floor of the
Assembly) and expect him to begin work on a clean slate.
