A Group of NGOs have sent an appeal to the Governor to appoint an in-between Chief Minister for a few weeks to act as a bridge between the administration provided by Digambar Kamat and that promised by Manohar Parrikar. "We have been used to five years of sloth and negligence and the new Chief Minister is known to be terribly quick and efficient. This might take time to get used to and might cause shocks, especially to elderly people." They further stated, "Goans are not used to files moving fast and crucial decisions being implemented - leave alone taken. We have the support of the Goa Government Employees Union who also need time to get used to the fact that they now will actually have to work efficiently and seriously to earn their salaries. They need time to adjust and get out of hibernation. We need an in-between CM to act as a buffer between doing-nothing and getting-things-done."
Meanwhile petrol pumps all over the state found a total slack in business. Said a petrol pump owner, "Everyone is managing in whatever way they can. Either by curtailing their traveling or using public transportation and even walking and cycling. News on the street is that petrol is going to come down to Rs. 55/- a litre. That's when they will refill their vehicle tanks".
