Goa which prides itself of being a progressive State with low infant mortality
and the rest has elected only one woman legislator to the Goa Legislative
Assembly. The BJP did not see it fit to field even one candidate in this
election even though there are several capable women leaders in the BJP Mahila
Morcha. The other political parties take consolation in tokenism where
deliberately or by accident one woman got the ticket. But going by the present
hostility of the newly elected disopensation towards the Monserates, this woman
may also be driven to rot in the opposition. The heartless Congress Legislators
were so greedy in empowering themselves that they just resisted Victoria's
claim for ministership in the previous Governemnt.
On this women's day we have the BJP manifesto pretending to be considerate to
women by rewarding those of them who stay in the kitchen with a dole of Rs.
1000 a month. These are the Visionaries OF Goans with Visionary dreams FOR
Goans and elected to power BY Visionary Goans!
