Please Keep the Prayer Going: Saldanha Stable After Major Emergency Surgery At St. Philomena's Hospital In Bangalore
Justice Saldanha was operated upon last night by thoracic surgeon Dr Rajashekhar Reddy to repair a three inch tear in his oesophegal tract resulting from a bout of coughing and retching yesterday afternoon. Earlier about two litres of fluid was drained from his lungs. As of 0630 this morning he is sedated and stable at the surgical ICU in St Philomena's Hospital in Bangalore. Monitoring his case are Hospital Director Sr Teresa, Dr Ranga Nayak consultant cardiologist, Dr Manjunath Desai, Cardiologist and Dr Alex Thomas, Director of Baptist. Dr Rajashekhar Reddy is directly in charge of the post surgical recovery currently. Wife Marie has flown in by a 3 a.m. flight this Thu 8/3 morning along with CSF Founder Secretary Joseph Dias who accompanied her. Archbishop Emeritus Ignatius Pinto has expressed his concern and will visit the patient today. Brother Mark Saldanha who is himself sick has also reached this morning after an overnight journey.
