Ref "A Peep into Negative Mindset of Goans" By Prabakar Timble, the writer
admits the "obvious truth" that land, a scarce resource,acquired by the
government for economic and infrastructure development, has moved into the
hands of corporates and land sharks and employment is tilted in favor of
non-locals with no boost for local entrepreneurship!The entire coastline is
hijacked to "terror tourism" which he rightly spells out, including "high cost"
off shore tourism and greed of the mining industry. He admits the real estate
boom put housing beyond the reach of locals,and elucidates irreversible toll in
agriculture and destruction of environment with no proper waste management. Add
to this the free for all governance and I fail to understand his view about the
apathy and indifference of goans in opposition to "any kind of development",
being his conclusions.This is unfair considering all the above, RP2011 which
goans had to fight against, promises belied in RP 2021 and and th
e corruption in vogue!
The road to change has begun.However it appears that family raj still persists,
and only the Alemaos are truly out! The old war horses,the tainted and corrupt,
except for a few, are all back in all parties, some voted in with
considerable majority. The Electorate has now to hold Parrikar and those who
represent their area to their manifestos, boasts and promises like watchdogs to
be worthy of true democracy. The battle has just begun.The war against
corruprtion and for good governance has not yet been initiated!
