'I am still against casino culture, but this was a Budgeting exercise' says annoyed Parrikar

Can't blame him really, we went overboard with carrying the InGoa video of Parrikar when he was Leader of the Opposition joining a BJP torchlight protest procession against casinos. "I stand by whatever I said on that video clip I am against casino culture, but the Budget is not a document meant for closing down or banning anything. The Budget deals with allocation of funds, of expenditure and revenue. "I have already explained that Rs 2000 entry fee to the casinos was just not working. Because the fees were so high the patrons were avoiding making those payments. There was no effective regulation or regulatory mechanism. The revenue which is expected on account of payment of Entry Fees is Rs 9.41 crores during the current year 2011-12....
